Scanning a business card
Take a photo of a business card with your phone or tablet, check the prefilled record, and the contact is created at its company.
Back from a trade fair or a meeting, a business card becomes a contact in a few seconds. The card is read on your phone: the photo is neither sent nor kept, by Caryon or anyone else.
Scanning is part of the Business plan. It is offered on phones and tablets (not with a mouse), to whoever may add contacts.
Scanning a card
Open the scan
On your phone, tap « Scanner une carte » (Scan a card), the button always at the bottom right of Caryon Lead. You can also type « Scanner une carte de visite » in the search (⌘K). The first time, the reader gets ready for a few seconds (« une seule fois », once only): the phone keeps it afterwards.
Take a photo of the card
Tap « Prendre la carte en photo » (Take a photo of the card): the camera opens. Lay the card flat, well lit, and frame all of it. A tilted or upside-down card reads too.
Check the record
Caryon Lead sorts what it read: first and last name, job title and department, email, direct line and mobile (the switchboard and the fax are left out), LinkedIn profile. Correct what needs it: a field the card does not give stays empty.
The company is found on its own: by the website or the email address, then by its name and town in your portfolio. The contact is attached to the site in the card's town, else to the head office. When the company is not followed yet, Caryon Lead offers those of the official register with that name (« ajoutée au portefeuille », added to the portfolio); you can always pick another company of the portfolio.
The consent starts at « A répondu » (Responded): the person handed you their card.
Note where you met them
« Rencontré à » (Met at, optional) puts a tag on the company — « Salon Global Industrie », for instance. It is kept for the next cards of the day; the tags of your workspace are offered below it.
Create the contact
Tap « Créer le contact » (Create the contact). « Annuler » (Undo), in the message that shows, removes it at once. « Scanner la suivante » (Scan the next one) opens the camera again for the next card; « Voir la fiche » (See the record) opens the contact on its company's page.
A card that does not read
Take the photo again, closer, the card flat and well lit. You can also « Saisir le contact à la main » (Type the contact by hand): the same record, empty. A person who already has a contact of the same name at the company is flagged, with « Créer quand même » (Create anyway).
